There are so many options out there now, both good and bad, for creating your custom fan page tabs. With Facebook’s switch from FBML to iFrames, the number of applications are just going to continue to grow. But which is the best solution?
For me, none so far.
I like to keep things as controlled as I can,
#1 Price Increases as Fans Increase
This one I don’t understand. So I have to suffer right when my fan page starts to take off? That’s supposed to be a happy moment, not a sad one. Maybe this just annoys me and no one else, but one thing that drives me crazy is when I’m going to be charged more as my business grows up.
#2 Only a Limited Number of Tabs
Again, how am I supposed to know how many tabs I will need. If I limited from the start, how am I supposed to decide which tool is best. I can’t. So…I won’t. I’ll stick with creating my own tabs for now, that way, I can make as many as I want to.
#3 Paying for Support
Kind of makes sense, but kind of doesn’t. As a customer, it just feels like I’m being nickel and dimed and I’d almost rather see an increase in price. It’s just one more thing I need to worry about, and most of the time I don’t know if I’d need it, so what am I supposed to do? If any of you use 1ShoppingCart, you know what I mean.
#4 Clunky Platforms…
This is really the kicker for me. If I’m going to pay, especially monthly, for a new tool to create my facebook fan page, the dang thing better be drop-dead easy to use. I don’t want to edit CSS. I don’t want to worry about where everything is hosted. I just want it to work. And I want all the bells and whistles. Not too much to ask I don’t think.
So, I will continue to create my own tabs for now. But I have a feeling something new may be coming that will fix all these pesky problems…
